Centre For Chinese Contemporary Art
The Centre For Chinese Contemporary Art (CFCCA) is a contemporary art gallery and venue that has been in the heart of Manchester for over 30 years. Through a rich programme of exhibitions, events, artist residencies and more CFCCA brings Chinese contemporary art to a UK audience.
CFCCA is the national lead in presenting and promoting Chinese contemporary art and artists to further understanding of Chinese contemporary life and society. They work with both artists of Chinese descent and a range of international artists to explore the notion of ‘Chineseness’. This makes for a diverse, dynamic and exciting programme, exploring what Chinese contemporary culture represents to artists from across the globe.
The brief
A clean and modern design, applying the CFCCA brand in the best possible manner. The website must be accessible and easily navigable, allowing visitors to easily find out what events and exhibitions are current / upcoming. It was essential that the site be based on a robust CMS that would allow staff to easily manage and update the site content.
The solution
The website is easy to navigate and works well across devices. Bold typography partnered with the minimal stylings of the CFCCA brand bring the content to the fore. For the build we elected to use the Twitter Bootstrap framework coupled with WordPress, a lightweight user-friendly CMS. The WordPress theme created specifically for CFCCA is fully responsive across a range of different sized devices, and makes minimal use of third-party plugins.

John was great to work with. We first approached him with the broadest brief imaginable, not being entirely sure where to start with a complete rebuild. He went above and beyond, taking the time to talk through our requirements and come up with a design that works with our brand and exceeded our expectations. We're delighted with the new website.
