Busy Bee Toy Shop is Britain’s first toy shop co-operative. They are a member owned toy and craft shop in the heart of Chorlton, South Manchester. There are three parts to Busy Bee – their toys, their arts and crafts and their community.

Since the first website was launched in February 2009, the committee has decided to move into online sales. The new website had to build on the existing design and branding. While offering the option to buy stock online the website also provides a channel to report and promote the company’s other activities.

Rotherham Culture Company

Rotherham Culture Company is a successful event management and fundraising organisation. They work in South Yorkshire doing arts regeneration projects, arts training and arts project management, and annually produce the massively successful Rotherham Open Arts Festival.

The company needed a website that would become a focus for information about arts events in the Rotherham area, and allow the company to promote their services and the Rotherham Open Arts Festival.

I Am Staggered

Staggered is the UK’s leading mens wedding website. The Staggered team consists of writers, sub-editors and picture researchers from a number of national newspapers and magazines as well as a host of specialist advice from all sectors of the wedding industry.

Staggered wanted to improve the user experience on their website, both during the registration process and the delivery of information on the home page. I worked closely with the Staggered team on the redesign and realignment of existing content.

Since the redesign, Staggered has experienced improved search engine rankings, including a 30% rise in traffic via search engines.

Proud and Loud Arts

Proud & Loud Arts are a disability-led theatre company based in Manchester. They create performances with fun and energy using their own ideas, experiences and imagination.

The project involved workshops with the company to inform the branding concept and subsequent design of their website.

Aqueous Humour

Aqueous Humour is a strikingly visual performance company, performing bouffon-style physical spectacle to challenge the “normal” atmosphere, attitudes and behaviour of any given location.

The company required a website to serve as a showcase for their work, and a means for potential clients to contact them. I designed, built and deployed their website and continue to work with the company on the website and other projects.

The Pankhurst Centre

The birthplace of the Suffragette movement is now the Pankhurst Centre, a women’s community centre. This historically significant building was the home of Emmeline Pankhurst and family who led the Suffragette campaign for Votes for Women.

The Pankhurst Centre required a website designing and building which would show visitors the different aspects of the organisation, from historical museum and heritage centre to women’s community centre.

Ashurst Communications

Design, build and deployment of website for Manchester-based PR firm Ashurst Communications.

The initial brief requested a clean, businesslike design with an element of fun, that fitted with and built upon existing brand guidelines. During this project I worked closely with Lisa Ashurst, head of Ashurst Communications, from the initial meeting, through wireframing, design mockups, build and final deployment.

Jenny Harris Drama

Jenny Harris is a professional drama workshop leader based in Manchester U.K. who has led workshops and taught drama since 1989.

Jenny needed an online portfolio of her work that was bright and colourful. After establishing the information architecture of the site, we workshopped colours and typography to arrive at the basis for the design branding. Business cards were also produced using the same branding.

Charlotte Newson

Charlotte Newson is a visual artist based in Manchester. Her work and skills are translated into a broad range of media, such as public art, set design and photography.

Charlotte required a website designing, building and deploying in a very short time frame, to coincide with the launch of an exhibition at Manchester Art Gallery and a related interview on BBC Radio 4. Because of time constraints, the same framework used for RAGINGtrifle’s own website was customised and deployed in her chosen branding and colour scheme.
